Brand Design and Collateral

Suzi Home Maker

The Client

As a new business, Suzi Home Maker required branding and branding guidelines to help make it easy for the owner to communicate a clear and consistent message to her potential client demographic. Branding needs included a logo reflective of the owner's mission and a specific set of built-in accessibility features relating to colours, fonts and design choices.

The research process began with getting to know the client to create a brand that reflected her personality. She wanted something "funky like me," which included her favourite colour, turquoise. Further research was required to make the branding suitable for the intended demographic of 65+, including finding colours, font styles and weights that are easier to see with vision loss.

Process

Considering all previously completed research, I sketched items digitally and on paper, thinking about how to present the business identity visually. The logo needed to appeal to a mature demographic yet be approachable to a vulnerable demographic preparing for significant changes in their life.

Based on the brand package purchased, the client receives three or more design options with the opportunity for revisions. Upon final design approval, they receive a Brand Kit, including vector logos, brand colours (in CMYK, RBG and HEX), and brand guidelines.

Collateral

With the logo and brand guidelines completed, the client felt a positive working relationship had been well established and requested additional collaterals such as letterhead, business cards, vehicle wraps, lawn signage, print advertising and a website.
